Packers’ Micah Parsons gives cryptic injury update after ‘learning to walk again’

Four months after tearing his ACL, Micah Parsons believes his injury recovery is right on schedule. The Green Bay Packers’ star edge-rusher believes he is on track to return within the first month of the 2026 season, but he admitted that it all “depends.”

Parsons suffered the devastating injury in a Week 15 loss to the Denver Broncos. He has since gotten back on his feet, but has yet to begin running or cutting on his hurt leg.

“Man, [my return] really just depends,” Parsons said, via the Action Network. “I had a pretty severe injury; it just depends on how each phase goes for me. But I would say, I do feel as if I’m ahead or on track to be there earlier in the season. It’s just hard to really pinpoint where or how each phase is going to go. The first three months went good, but I gotta learn how to run again soon. I just finished learning how to walk again, so it’s just one of those things.”

Parsons is still months away from returning to football activities, putting the beginning of his 2026 season in doubt. Torn ACLs typically take nine to 12 months to recover from, making September the earliest he could return if all goes well.

Parsons joined the Packers in the biggest trade of the 2025 offseason after four seasons with the Dallas Cowboys. He ended his inaugural season in Green Bay with 41 tackles, 12.5 sacks and two forced fumbles.

Edge-rushers have typically recovered from ACL injuries fairly well, but the Packers will still miss Parsons’ presence for as long as he remains sidelined. Green Bay lost his primary running mate, Rashan Gary, in the offseason, leaving it significantly shorthanded on the outside until the four-time All-Pro returns to the field.
