Packers insider makes Josh Jacobs training camp ‘bet’ amid legal issues

The Green Bay Packers have been taking part in offseason workouts recently as they prepare for the upcoming 2026 NFL season. One of the big storylines for the Packers this offseason has been the legal saga of running back Josh Jacobs, who was arrested on domestic violence charges earlier this offseason but has since appeared at minicamp.

Recently, Packers insider Bill Huber of Sports Illustrated made a prediction about how Jacobs will handle his media availability at training camp, which is slated to get underway next month.

“If I had to bet a dollar, Jacobs will address reporters on the first day of training camp with a prepared statement saying that he’s innocent of all charges and that will be his only comment about it until the legal status is settled,” wrote Huber.

He later added that “…What I would say is the Packers probably have a good idea of what happened/what didn’t happen. Would they have allowed him back on the practice field if there was some sort of damning evidence?”

Jacobs’ tenure with the Packers has been slightly disappointing, but he remains a key part of Green Bay’s offensive attack, especially considering the lack of depth the team has behind him at the running back position.

Huber pointed to previous instances of domestic violence arrests involving running backs, including a 2016 incident involving then-Dallas Cowboys star Ezekiel Elliot for which he was suspended six games, despite charges not being filed.

It remains to be seen how the situation with Jacobs will play out, but it’s safe to say that the Packers would like things to be resolved sooner rather than later.
