Orioles announce 3 roster moves before Rays clash

The Baltimore Orioles announced three roster moves before their game on Tuesday against the Tampa Bay Rays. Baltimore selected the contract of right-handed pitcher Albert Suarez from Triple-A. Meanwhile, right-handed pitcher Cameron Foster was optioned to Triple-A and catcher Maverick Handley was designated for assignment. The moves come a day after the Orioles claimed outfielder Michael Siani off waivers from the Los Angeles Dodgers.

Suarez, 36, has been a reliable pitcher at the big league level in recent seasons. In 2024, he pitched to a 3.70 ERA across 32 outings (24 starts). Suarez only made five appearances in 2025 with the O’s but he recorded a 2.31 ERA during that span. Through six MLB appearances in 2026, the right-handed pitcher has a 3.45 ERA.

Foster turned in a 9.00 ERA across six outings with the Orioles before getting optioned on Tuesday. Handley, meanwhile, played in only one game at the MLB level in 2026. However, he was hitting .333/.458/.444 in six minor league games (five at Double and one at Triple-A).

Baltimore is hoping to compete in 2026. The team’s performance has been rather underwhelming to begin the season, however. With that being said, the Orioles have dealt with injury trouble.

Perhaps Suarez will give the ball club a boost. Having more depth on the roster will certainly help matters for the O’s.

Baltimore was defeated 16-6 by Tampa Bay in the first contest of their series on Monday. The Orioles are looking to bounce back during Tuesday’s matchup.

First pitch for the Orioles and Rays game on Tuesday night is scheduled for 6:40 PM EST in Tampa Bay.
