Oregon lands 4-star TE over Miami, Michigan, LSU, Michigan State
Oregon football boosted its offensive line in grabbing Lex Mailangi to start its late June charge. Now the Ducks landed a breakout four-star tight end Sunday. This one choosing the Ducks over Miami, Michigan, LSU and Michigan State on the College Football Recruiting trail.
Four-star Anthony Cartwright III shut his recruitment down by choosing Oregon, revealing his decision via livestream on Rivals. Coach Dan Lanning lands one more blue chip recruit to the continuously growing 2027 class. Although offensive coordinator and past tight ends coach Drew Mehringer ran point on his recruitment.
Cartwright revealed to Rivals that relationships building led to his Oregon decision.
“The relationship that I have been able to build with the entire coaching staff, especially coach Lanning, coach Merhringer, and coach Smith has allowed Oregon to feel more and more like home every time I go out there,” Cartwright told Rivals. “From the moment they started recruiting me, it felt like nothing but family.”
He included that “the first conversation me and coach Drew had was probably close to two hours, which still probably is the longest conversation I’ve had with a coach on their first time coming to see me.”
Cartwright heads to a place becoming a tight end hotbed. Oregon just produced Kenyon Sadiq as a first rounder to the New York Jets. Terrance Ferguson landed with the Los Angeles Rams in the second round during the 2025 NFL Draft and figured to have an expanded role this fall.
Oregon now has 21 total commits for the 2027 class.
