Oregon HC Dan Lanning, Dante Moore, other Ducks will teach football in Japan

Oregon football will travel to Tokyo this summer for the Tokyo Oregon Football Showcase, presented by Flight Club, scheduled for June 25-27, 2026, the team announced early Monday. The event is organized through a partnership between Division Street and the Japan Gridiron Association, aiming to expand American football’s reach in Japan.

The showcase will take place at the American School in Japan (ASIJ) in Tokyo and will highlight a focus on introducing 7-on-7 football to the Japanese football community. While American football has been played in Japan for more than 100 years, and Japanese flag football programs are considered among the strongest globally, 7-on-7 competition is described as a new format in the country.

Oregon Ducks head coach Dan Lanning will lead a coaches clinic during the event, covering basic route combinations, offensive concepts, and broader tactical football strategies. Lanning will also guide development-focused sessions for local coaches and participants.

Several Oregon student-athletes are expected to take part in live demonstrations designed to showcase fundamental skills and core football concepts. The participating group includes Dante Moore, Dakorien Moore, Jamari Johnson, Jeremiah McClellan, Evan Stewart, Jordon Davison, and Dierre Hill Jr.

The program will also feature a live exhibition led by Oregon players, reinforcing technical instruction and on-field demonstrations during the three-day event.

Division Street, which was founded to create marketing opportunities for University of Oregon student-athletes, also plans to use the trip to explore the possibility of establishing a more permanent league structure for youth and high school players in Japan.

American School in Japan serves as the central venue for the showcase, which is also intended to build connections in a country with a population exceeding 122 million.

The initiative also demonstrates Oregon’s effort to expand its national brand internationally while introducing American football concepts to a growing audience in Japan. Flight Club is presenting the event as part of its involvement in the cultural and sporting initiative.
