Onyeka Okongwu urges Hawks fans to get loud for Game 3

The Atlanta Hawks and New York Knicks are tied 1-1 going into Game 3 of their first-round matchup. With the next contest taking place in Atlanta, star center Onyeka Okongwu has a message for the fanbase.

While talking with media members on Wednesday, Okongwu urged fans to be as loud as possible during Game 3, according to SNY Knicks. The six-year veteran hopes Hawks fans can drown out any Knicks fans attending the game.

“Very, very loud,” said Okongwu when asked what he expects the atmosphere to be like for Game 3. “Knicks fans are going to be there, but I know the Atlanta faithful will be there as well. I’m excited for tomorrow night.”

The Hawks stole Game 2 away from the Knicks thanks to a strong fourth-quarter performance, outscoring New York by 13 points, resulting in a 107-106 final score in Atlanta’s favor. Onyeka Okongwu, who is 25 years old, had a solid outing in that contest, finishing the game with 15 points, eight rebounds, and one assist on 66.6% shooting from the field and hitting two of his three attempts from deep.

This is Atlanta’s first trip to the playoffs since the 2022-23 season. It’s also the first postseason trip with Quin Snyder as head coach. After what’s been an up-and-down past few seasons, the club seems to be on the right track after making several big moves, including trading Trae Young away before the deadline this season.

Game 3 is scheduled to tip off at 7 p.m. EST on Thursday. It will be the first home game for the Hawks in the series.
