OKC fans hit Spurs’ Victor Wembanyama with typical SGA insult at free throw line

The San Antonio Spurs and Oklahoma City Thunder are locked in a Game 5 battle with the series tied at 2. Throughout their two-year run, the Thunder and star guard Shai Gilgeous-Alexander have been accused of flopping by everyone. So when Spurs star Victor Wembanyama went to the foul line, the Thunder fans took their chance to turn the tables.

Wembanyama was fouled and went to the line, but heard a chant he rarely hears. Considering all of the talk about Gilgeous-Alexander and the Thunder flopping over the years, it makes sense that the fans are exhausted by it. Nothing changed about this foul call, as it was part of a very tight first half.

In the regular season, SGA finished third in free-throw attempts in the league, and Wembanyama finished 11th. Both players get to the line a lot and are solid free-throw shooters on top of it. SGA has won two consecutive MVPs with elite foul shooting, leading the league this year with 7.9 made attempts per game.

The Thunder and Spurs are tied at two wins each after four epic games in the Western Conference Final. The New York Knicks await the winner in the NBA Finals. SGA and the Thunder are looking for their second consecutive title and third ever Finals appearance. This is Wemby’s first playoff appearance, and the Spurs have not been to the Finals since 2014.

Despite the flopping accusations getting lobbed from both sides, this has been an epic series. Will it be decided at the foul stripe?
