Oilers get unfortunate Jason Dickinson injury update before Ducks Game 3
The Edmonton Oilers are preparing for Game 3 against the Anaheim Ducks. Edmonton lost Game 2 in a thrilling contest, and are hoping to regain the series lead on Friday night. However, they will once again be without veteran forward Jason Dickinson.
Dickinson played in Game 1, scoring twice in Edmonton’s win. But he missed Game 2, and now will miss Game 3, according to Sportsnet’s Elliotte Friedman. At this time, the injury Dickinson is dealing with has not been disclosed. In any event, it will keep him out for a second consecutive game.
Dickinson was traded to the Oilers at the NHL Trade Deadline this season. Edmonton paid a big price to acquire the veteran forward. They sent Andrew Mangiapane and a 2027 first-round pick to the Chicago Blackhawks to acquire him.
The veteran pivot is not a consistent point producer, though he isn’t far removed from a career-high 22-goal season. However, he did average 15 minutes a night while skating in 17 games with Edmonton following the NHL Trade Deadline.
He certainly made his presence known in Game 1, as mentioned. The Oilers offense still showed up without him in Game 2. But Cutter Gauthier scored two goals in Game 2 to even the series heading into Friday night.
Edmonton has made each of the last two Stanley Cup Finals. They are searching for a third straight appearance, and their first against a team not named the Florida Panthers in this stretch. They have work to do, but will unfortunately be down a key veteran once again as they chase a series lead over the Ducks.
