NYPD implements bizarre no walking rule before Donald Trump’s Knicks Game 3 appearance

Ahead of the New York Knicks hosting Game 3 of the NBA Finals, major safety precautions are being taken by the NYPD and others as President Donald Trump gets ready to attend the game.

There won’t be any watch parties outside of MSG for Game 3, but furthermore, New Yorkers won’t be able to walk around Midtown.

Reports state that 30th to 35th streets will be closed between Seventh and Eighth avenues beginning at 4 pm EST on Monday, June 8. Pedestrian and vehicle traffic is not allowed during this time.

The only exception to the rule is ticket holders for tonight’s game and those with appointments with the businesses in the locked down area. Additionally, bags and backpacks won’t be allowed in the restricted area unless traveling by rail. If anyone needs to reach Penn Station, they’ll have to enter from the west side of Eighth between 31st and 33rd streets.

Donald Trump will be at Game 3 of the NBA Finals between the Knicks and the Spurs

Trump is planning on attending Game 3 of the NBA Finals at Madison Square Garden. He was invited to go to one of the Eastern Conference Finals games. However, due to the Knicks sweeping the Cleveland Cavaliers, he didn’t get to go.

The attendance of the president means the security is being upped at the Garden. Every precaution is understandably being taken. However, it is creating a mess in the heart of the city for those not going to the game.

Currently, the Knicks are up 2-0 in the NBA Finals. They will be playing in front of a rabid New York crowd as they inch towards the franchise’s first championship in over 50 years.

New York escaped San Antonio by winning Game 2 by one point. They blew a double-digit lead in the fourth quarter, but they were able to persevere and pick up the win.
