NYC Mayor Zohran Mamdani spotted in MSG nosebleeds after paying $700 for Knicks Game 2 ticket

While not on celebrity row, New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani was at Madison Square Garden (MSG) for the Knicks’ Game 2 win over the Cleveland Cavaliers.

He went to the game on Thursday, May 21, but unlike Timothée Chalamet and Ben Stiller, he wasn’t sitting courtside, opting to sit amongst the people. He posted a selfie from the nosebleeds at the Garden with the caption, “Knicks forever.”

It’s since been reported by Bernadette Hogan of NY1 that he paid “face value” for his ticket, which was worth around $700. He was at the game alongside Public Advocate Jumaane Williams, as seen in the picture.

Mamdani subtly got into the game, leaving it off his public schedule. He wanted to keep a low profile as he sat in the nosebleeds of MSG.

The exact section is unknown, but his selfie reveals that he was pretty high up. Even still, he appeared happy to be at the game with the rest of the Knicks fans.

In January 2026, Mamdani became the mayor of New York City. Before that, he represented Astoria, Queens, as a member of the New York State Assembly for the 36th district.

The Knicks demolished the Cavaliers in the second game of their series. After blowing a 22-point fourth quarter lead in Game 1, the Cavs came out strong. They were only down by four points at halftime.

However, New York turned it on in the second half. Josh Hart led the team with 26 points. Cleveland opted to leave Hart open, and he made them pay, hitting five three-pointers.

He was the only player to finish with more than 20 points on the team. Jalen Brunson and Mikal Bridges both had 19 points, and Karl-Anthony Towns had 18. OG Anunoby is returning to form, as he scored 14 points while making five of his eight shots.
