Notre Dame’s Jeremiyah Love, Jadarian Price make NFL Draft history

Notre Dame Fighting Irish backfield pairing of Jeremiyah Love and Jadarian Price created NFL Draft history on Thursday night, in Pittsburgh, as both running backs were selected in the first round.

Jeremiyah Love was taken third overall by the Arizona Cardinals, while Jadarian Price was picked with the No. 32 selection, the final pick of the opening round, by the Seattle Seahawks.

Their selections ended a long gap for Notre Dame running backs in the first round, dating back to 1993, when Jerome Bettis went 10th overall to the Los Angeles Rams. Bettis was present at the draft as the streak concluded.

Love and Price became the first pair of running backs from the same school to be selected as the first two at their position in a single NFL Draft in the common draft era (since 1967). They also helped the Fighting Irish become the first program since the 1966 NFL-AFL merger to produce the first two running backs drafted in the same class.

The duo also joined a rare group, becoming only the sixth running back pairing from the same school to be taken in the first round of the same draft since 1967, alongside Arkansas (2008), Auburn (2025), Texas A&M (1987), Florida (1986), and Ohio State (1971).

Price’s rookie contract is projected to be valued at about $16.8 million over four years with an $8.7 million signing bonus, while Love’s deal is expected to include a $53 million guarantee and a $35 million signing bonus, both record-setting for rookie running backs.
