Nick Suzuki’s ‘proud’ message after reaching 100-point mark for 1st time
It’s been a fantastic season for Montreal Canadiens captain Nick Suzuki. Suzuki has had a career year offensively for a Habs team that looks like it can make a run in the Stanley Cup Playoffs. On Sunday, the captain achieved a massive individual feat that puts him in elite company with the game’s best.
Suzuki scored a goal and added an assist on Sunday against the New York Islanders. With these two points, he has now surpassed the 100-point mark in 2025-26. It’s a major feat that few players achieve in their careers. After the game, the Canadiens captain spoke about what this moment meant to him.
“I mean, it’s pretty cool,” Suzuki said, via NHL.com. “As a little kid, you think of doing things like this, and that’s definitely special, especially with this organization. I’m so proud to be part of the group that came before me.”
Suzuki joined an elite group of players with this feat. Including the Habs captain, only five players in team history have scored 100 or more points in a single season. He joins Steve Shutt, Guy Lafleur, Peter Mahovlich, and Mats Naslund.
The Canadiens are heading to the Stanley Cup Playoffs, as mentioned. Montreal is tied with the Buffalo Sabres for first in the Atlantic Division. The Sabres have a game in hand over the Habs, however.
Montreal is nearing the end of its season, but the work on the ice is only just beginning. The Canadiens finish the regular season on Tuesday against the Philadelphia Flyers.
