NFL rumors: Rams ‘sniffing around’ trading up from No. 13 pick in 2026 NFL Draft

Though the 2026 NFL Draft is still a few days away, one team has already been wheelin’ and dealin’ with the best of them: the Los Angeles Rams.

After acquiring the Atlanta Falcons ‘ first-round pick last spring to facilitate a move up for edge rusher James Pierce, the Rams opted to trade their own selection, 29th overall, to the Kansas City Chiefs for cornerback Trent McDuffie, who they promptly handed one of the largest contracts ever given to a defensive back after the deal.

Now sitting pretty at pick No. 13 with a need for long-term building blocks at premium positions, the Rams should have plenty of options to choose from then the go on the clock, but what if Les Snead’s trigger finger gets twitchy? Well, according to Sports Illustrated’s Albert Breer, the Rams are already making calls to see what a trade-up might look like, with one wide receiver in particular catching his fancy.

“Most of the scuttlebutt with other teams connects USC’s Makai Lemon to the Rams, and I’d buy that in Lemon (and Cooper, for that matter) being their type of receiver,” Breer wrote. “But I’d also bet, based on what I know, that Sean McVay might see a little something in Tyson based on the Rams’ affection for Tetairoa McMillan last year. The Rams have at least sniffed around on a trade-up.”

On paper, Tyson and McMillan do have a lot in common from a stylistic perspective, as both served as big-bodied wideouts with impressive catch radii for Arizona-based college teams. If the Rams regret not being able to add McMillan last year, they have the ammo needed to make a move-up this year far more manageable.
