NBA rumors: Shams guarantees Jaylen Brown staying with Bucks if he’s traded for Giannis Antetokounmpo

As rumors of a Giannis Antetokounmpo trade heat up ahead of the 2026 NBA Draft on Tuesday, it seems the Boston Celtics are a legitimate team in the race, seen as a finalist alongside the Miami Heat. With the Celtics reportedly having a real shot at trading for Antetokounmpo, the main piece in a potential deal appears to be Jaylen Brown, but would he stay with the Bucks?

Shams Charania of ESPN would say on Monday morning on “NBA Live” that if Boston ends up trading for Antetokounmpo, Brown would be with Milwaukee.

“All I’ll say to you, Greeny, if the Milwaukee Bucks go with the Celtics offer, Jaylen Brown will be in Milwaukee,” Charania said, via HeatCulture13 on X, formerly Twitter.

A look at the Celtics, Heat trade packages for Giannis Antetokounmpo

It was a huge segment for Charania as he revealed on the show that “a trade and resolution” for the Antetokounmpo saga is coming before the start of Tuesday’s NBA Draft. Charania also said that the Heat and the Celtics are the two finalists, though each has a different package: Boston’s led by Brown, and Miami’s featuring “significant” draft assets and cost-controlled players.

“Both deals are vastly different. With the Boston deal, you have Jaylen Brown, a superstar-led package. There are additional pieces,” Charania said.

“In Miami, there are more players involved, more cost-controlled rookie scale contracts. There’s more draft capital involved there. These conversations have been a blood bath,” Charania continued.

A key nugget that could alter the Heat’s chances is that the trade will be a “one-for-one” deal for Antetokounmpo, meaning there won’t be more teams involved to start, as Miami has been trying to do.

“I want to make this clear: whichever deal occurs, it’s going to be a one-for-one deal. It’s going to consist of MIL and one of these two teams. There’s no 3rd and 4th teams… Giannis, from my understanding, is ready to be traded,” Charania said.

At any rate, it seems that Milwaukee has until Tuesday night’s NBA Draft to decide what the future looks like for Antetokounmpo.
