NBA rumors: Jaylen Brown-Alperen Sengun trade? Don’t count on Celtics, Rockets pulling it off
Jaylen Brown has been the talk of the town over the past few weeks, as the Boston Celtics have placed the forward on the trade market. After failing to get Giannis Antetokounmpo, the Celtics apparently still dangled Brown around, and teams seem to be interested in acquiring him.
The Houston Rockets are a recent name that was thrown around, but as of now, they’re not pursuing Brown, according to The Stein Line.
“Such chatter, especially with regard to the Rockets, is bound to be dismissed in some corners by those who remember that Houston vowed for months not to pursue Kevin Durant … only to ultimately trade for Durant last June,” The Stein Line wrote. “Yet sources insist the Rockets have had no recent discussions with Boston about a Brown deal.
“There is obviously a strong connection between Brown and Rockets coach Ime Udoka, who coached the Celtics to the NBA Finals in 2022. Boston’s longstanding interest in Houston’s Alperen Şengün is also well known, but sources say nothing is percolating between the two teams to this point.”
That would be a big trade for both teams, and it could work for both players involved. Though Sengun is a top-two option on the Rockets, Brown would bring a lot more to the table for the team, especially on the defensive side. As for the Celtics, putting a center on the floor like Sengun next to Jayson Tatum could be hard to guard for opposing teams.
Anybody could have a change of heart at any moment, and if the Rockets believe that Brown can take them to another level, they may get in discussions with the Celtics. The only question is, do the Celtics feel like getting Sengun in return for Brown is good enough?
