NBA rumors: Bucks’ draft plans signal Giannis Antetokounmpo trade is imminent

The Milwaukee Bucks will have a lot of decisions to make in less than a week, as the NBA Draft is approaching and Giannis Antetokounmpo is still on the team. The two things definitely coincide with each other, because if Antetokounmpo is traded, there is a good chance they get draft picks for him, which is what the Bucks want.

In fact, they already have a plan as to how many they want for this year’s draft, according to NBA insider Jake Fischer.

“The Bucks continue to signal to rival teams and agents that they plan to have as many as three first-round picks in this draft … two more than their current allotment,” Fischer wrote. “Which should help explain why so many rival teams have been projecting that Milwaukee will at last push ahead with plans to trade its Face of the Franchise.

“Miami’s No. 13 overall pick would obviously be Milwaukee-bound if the Heat, after many months of presenting the Bucks with offers, could finally complete a Giannis Antetokounmpo trade. The Bucks, sources say, are searching for another first-rounder as well.”

The Heat package for Antetokounmpo has reportedly included the No. 13 pick, along with Tyler Herro, Kel’el Ware and Jaime Jacquez Jr. It’s uncertain how the Bucks would get the third pick, but in Brett Siegel’s latest mock draft, he had the Hawks, Bucks, and Oklahoma City Thunder making a trade.

The Bucks would get the No. 8 and No. 17 picks along with Buddy Hield, the Hawks would get the No. 12 pick and Bobby Portis, and the Thunder would get the No. 10 pick.

It’s uncertain if that would really happen, but it would help the Bucks walk away with multiple draft picks. As the draft draws closer, it will be interesting to see what direction the Bucks go in and who they’ll trade Antetokounmpo to.
