Napheesa Collier fires off retirement prediction that will make fans happy

Now entering her eighth season in the WNBA, Minnesota Lynx star Napheesa Collier is currently sidelined to begin the 2026 season as she’s still recovering from an ankle injury suffered during last season’s WNBA playoffs. In the offseason, Collier played a key leadership role in helping get the new CBA deal done, and she reiterated her interest in the business side of basketball. And with that, came a potential retirement prediction for Napheesa Collier.

Napheesa Collier recently stated that the plan is keep Unrivaled, one of her main business ventures, in operation even with the new CBA, and the Lynx star also predicted that she has a lengthy playing career ahead of her, as per Steve Inskeep of NPR.

“I think 10 would be a good number,” Collier said, adding that she wants to play basketball until the wheels fall off.

Collier is currently 29-years-old, so that retirement prediction would conceivably take her through the 2036 WNBA season when she would be 39-years-old. The No. 6 overall pick in the 2019 WNBA Draft, Collier has played her entire career to this point with the Lynx.

Amid the new salary bump as part of the CBA, Collier signed a new supermax contract worth around $1.4 million, but only for one season. She will hit unrestricted free agency once again next offseason. Collier has emerged as one of the best players in the league, and was a finalist for the MVP Award last year.

In 2025, she appeared in 33 games at a little over 32 minutes per game. She averaged a career-high 22.9 points, 7.3 rebounds, 3.2 assists, 1.6 steals and 1.5 blocked shots with splits of 53.1 percent shooting from the field, 40.3 percent shooting from the 3-point line and 90.6 percent shooting from the free-throw line.
