Moses Itauma offered another world title shot as options stack up after Oleksandr Usyk decision

Moses Itauma could fight for another world title with new champion Agit Kabayel suggesting he is open to the young star’s challenge.

Itauma is set to make the biggest leap up in class of his career to date when he takes on Filip Hrgovic on August 29.

The British sensation is well positioned with several governing bodies, and is almost guaranteed a world title shot with victory against the Croatian giant.

Having previously held the WBO mandatory status for a shot against Daniel Dubois, the Chatham native looked to be in a great position.

And his status in the division grew further, as the IBF then ordered him to face Frank Sanchez for a shot at their vacant title.

After Oleksandr Usyk also vacated the WBA and WBC titles, two new champions have been crowned in Murat Gassiev and Agit Kabayel respectively.

Kabayel, a Queensberry Promotions stablemate of Itauma, is keen to face the winner of Itauma and Hrgovic’s clash as a potential option.

He explained to Sky Sports: “That is no problem for me [a fight with Itauma].

The winner of that fight versus Hrgovic, why not?

“Send me the location, send me the date, I’m ready.”

Kabayel also opened the door to fights with Anthony Joshua, Tyson Fury and the winner of Dubois’ upcoming rematch with Fabio Wardley.

Could Itauma get his world title shot fast tracked?

Realistically for Itauma, a world title shot could come next.

But he is already contracted to face Hrgovic in what would be a great step to test his credentials on the fringes of world level.

However after the order, a move for Itauma to ditch the fight would certainly make plausible sense.

The British southpaw has been gunning for the big names, and was poised patiently until Usyk made his decision.

It has long been conceded by the the prestigious talent’s handlers that they cannot hold him back much longer.

The plan has always been to secure Itauma an attempt at reaching world glory before the end of 2026.

And at just 2021, some big fights and big names will for sure come in time.
