Mitch Marner scores 1st Golden Knights playoff goal in Game 6 vs. Mammoth
The Vegas Golden Knights are on the brink of the second round of the 2026 Stanley Cup Playoffs. Vegas has the Utah Mammoth of the ropes, and they got a massive boost on Friday night. Golden Knights star Mitch Marner announced his arrival in a big way on the game’s biggest stage.
Marner scored in the second period to give the Knights a 2-0 lead. This was a notable goal, as well. It was his first career playoff goal with Vegas after signing an eight-year contract last summer. Marner went on to score another goal, giving Vegas a 4-1 lead in the third period.

Marner’s goals were enough to sink the Mammoth. Utah was eliminated by the Golden Knights in Game 6 on Friday night. Vegas added an empty net goal after Marner’s second of the game to claim a 5-1 victory away from home.
The Golden Knights are on to the second round for the second season in a row. This year, they will face Cutter Gauthier and the Anaheim Ducks. Anaheim is coming off an impressive series victory over Connor McDavid and the Edmonton Oilers.
The Mammoth certainly have a lot to be proud of. Utah won Games 2 and 3 to take the series lead over Vegas. Unfortunately, they allowed 15 goals in the final three games of the series, and are headed home as a result.
Marner signed an eight-year contract with the Golden Knights this past summer. He is hoping to win his first career Stanley Cup after failing time and time again with the Toronto Maple Leafs. With this win, he is now one step closer to achieving that goal.
