Mike McCarthy ‘not s***ting around’ with epic training camp bathroom setup

Mike McCarthy is not messing around with the bathroom situation at training camp.

The Pittsburgh Steelers head coach’s bathroom setup went viral for his Porta Potties that were seen at Saint Vincent College as he heads into his first year with the team.

Pat McAfee Show’s Steelers Correspondent Mark Kaboly shared a picture of McCarthy’s temporary bathrooms during training camp. He captioned the photo, “Mike McCarthy isn’t s***ting around during his first camp at SVC.”

Mike McCarthy first year at Pittsburgh Steelers

The Steelers are gearing up for another chance at a bringing the Lombardi Trophy to Pittsburgh in almost two decades. Last year, they lost in the first round of the playoffs to the Houston Texans. They did however win the AFC North division and ended with the 2025 regular season with a 10-7 record.

Mike Tomlin, the longtime Steelers head coach resigned from his position after the the 2025-2026 season. He was the head coach for the Steelers for 19 seasons. Tomlin will now be working as a studio analyst for NBC Sports on the pregame show “Football Night in America.”

It now leaves McCarthy who has previous been the head coach for the Dallas Cowboys (2020–2024) and Green Bay Packers (2006–2018) to at the very least lead the Steelers closer to the Super Bowl. There might be some extra motivation to bring the Steelers a Super Bowl win given that this season will be Aaron Rodgers’ last. The Steelers quarterback announced his retirement will be after the 2026-2027 NFL season.

McCarthy and Rodgers won a Super Bowl together back in 2011 when they both were on the Packers. During media availability on Tuesday, July 28, he expressed how he feels about coaching Rodgers again.

“Obviously known him since the beginning,” McCarthy said. “When you get to that point in life and you get into the fourth quarter of a career, you do reflect. … I think the biggest thing is where he’s at in life. And I’ve watched him grow both personally and professionally, and his personal life is growing. And this is such a selfish, selfish profession. … I’m sure where he’s at, 42, he’s having a lot of thoughts about where he is personally.

McCarthy continued: “… It’s special. Yeah, there’s no doubt about it. Trust me, that’s not lost on me. Every day. I think it’s super cool that I get to line up with him one more time.”

The Steelers’ first preseason game will be against the Packers on Aug. 13.
