The video quickly went viral. Jalen Brunson did not hide his delight upon learning that the New York Knicks acquired Josh Hart in 2022. He was excited to be reunited with his former teammate at Villanova.

Two years later, Mikal Bridges, another ex-teammate on the Wildcats, also joined the Knicks.

Now, they will battle together in the NBA Finals, achieving what once felt like a long shot after the Knicks swept the Cleveland Cavaliers in the Eastern Conference Finals.

In the postgame conference in Game 4, Hart shared a profound reflection about playing with Brunson and Bridges and reaching the grandest stage.

“It’s surreal. When you’re in college, and you’re in that locker room, you know the goal is the NBA, and the percent chance that you guys will be on the same team is very slim, if not none,” said Hart in the video posted by SNY.

“It’s always something you talk about and dream about, but you know, in reality, it’s almost impossible. So the fact that it actually came to fruition is super cool because I know the time these guys put in, I know where their hearts are. We already share a bond and a brotherhood for life. This is just another step there. Obviously, it’s not the ultimate goal, but you just keep adding more memories to that, and these are memories we’ll have for a lifetime.”

It is rare for the 31-year-old Hart to be serious in a postgame interview, so Bridges had to acknowledge the perfect answer.

“That’s tough,” said Bridges, while dapping up the do-it-all wingman.

He may be the most goofy among them, but many tend to forget that Hart was the go-to guy at Villanova even when Brunson and Bridges arrived. He was the captain, and he made everyone follow his lead.

Hart, Brunson, and Bridges won a national title with the Wildcats in 2016. The goal now is to do the same in the NBA.

Talk about giving it the old college try.
