Mets’ Francisco Lindor gets real on injury return timeline after Rumble Ponies game
The New York Mets lost Francisco Lindor early in the season due to injury. He has not played in the big leagues since April 22nd, and New York has had a rough go of it without their star shortstop in the lineup. However, he is getting closer to returning to MLB, as evidenced by his first rehab assignment game on Friday night.
Lindor suited up for the Double-A Binghampton Rumble Ponies on Friday. He recorded a hit in his first at-bat, lacing a single into right-center. He went on to score after getting on base. This single would be his only hit on the night, as the Mets star went 1-for-4.
It’s great to see Lindor back on the field and getting game time in. It’s a sign that he is closer to being ready to return to the Mets. However, the exact timeline for his return to Queens is still unknown.
“I’m going to recover right now, go home, see my kids, see my wife, and then tomorrow we’ll figure out what I got next,” Lindor said, via SNY Mets.
New York has won two games in a row and three of their last five. However, the Amazins are currently dead last in the NL East. They own a record of 34-41, putting them 13.5 games behind the first-place Atlanta Braves. Furthermore, New York is the only team in the division with a losing record.
The Mets are looking to salvage as much of this season as they can. Getting a healthy Lindor back in the lineup will certainly help matters as the long summer stretch begins.
