Matt Chapman gets brutally honest on Giants’ offensive woes

The San Francisco Giants have endured a difficult season overall. The lineup has especially struggled. Stars such as Matt Chapman and Rafael Devers have yet to find success in 2026. Chapman recently commented on the team’s offensive woes during an interview, via KNBR. He was asked about the Giants currently ranking last in runs scored.

“I definitely would not have predicted that,” Chapman said. “We had a great spring training, obviously spring doesn’t mean too much but we had a lot of good energy. Guys were swinging the bats well. We got off to a rough start… It’s probably worse than a rough start. Last in the major leagues in a lot of offensive categories. Did not see that coming.”

It has been a challenging campaign for San Francisco. Overall, the Giants are 14-23 and in last place in the National League West standings. Nevertheless, Chapman still believes there is reason for hope.

“Good news is there’s a lot of upside in this lineup,” Chapman said. “Maybe it’s going to be one of those things where we were all cold at the same time and we all get hot at the same time and we’re looking at a lot different situation in a month here. Only time will tell… There’s a lot of talent in this room.”

The Giants are not giving up. They need to get things going sooner rather than later, however. There is still time to turn the season around, but this offense must figure things out as soon as possible.
