World number one Scottie Scheffler heads into this week’s tournament at Augusta National as the favourite for victory on Sunday night.

The American is looking to win the Masters for the third time having done so before in 2022 and 2024, and started the year in fine form with three top five finishes in the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am, the Phoenix Open and the American Express, winning the latter.

The 29-year-old four-time major winner hasn’t placed in the top 10 in any of the last three tournaments he’s entered, and has finished outside the top 20 in his last two, but will head to Georgia well rested having not competed since his T22 finish in the Players Championship.

Jon Rahm, another former Masters champion, is priced as the second favourite to retain his green jacket this weekend, with the Spaniard having impressed on the LIV Golf tour so far this year.

The 2023 champion, who also won the US Open a couple of years prior, has placed in the top five in all six LIV events so far since the turn of the year, with four second place finishes and a victory in Hong Kong at the start of last month.

There’s a three-way tie for the title of third favourite, with reigning champion Rory McIlroy, and two-time major winners Bryson DeChambeau and Xander Schauffele all priced at 14/1.

McIlroy completed a historic career Grand Slam last year after his victory at Augusta on his 17th attempt, and has started this year relatively well with top three finishes at the Dubai Invitational and the Genesis Invitational, but struggled to a T46 finish in his most recent appearance at the Players Championship four weeks ago.

DeChambeau is a two-time US Open winner but has never finished higher than T5 in the Masters, which he achieved last year despite starting the final round in second place.

The 32-year-old has dominated LIV Golf this calendar year, and heads to Augusta having won each of the last two events in Singapore and South Africa.

Fellow America Schauffele, who won the PGA Championship and the Open in 2024 but is yet to get his hands on a green jacket, has three top 10 finishes in his last four competitive appearances, most notably finishing third in the Players Championship and more recently making T4 at the Valspar Championship.
