Man United next manager odds: Betting suspended after former player favourite to replace Amorim

Ruben Amorim was sacked as Manchester United manager following a 1-1 draw with Leeds United last Sunday.

And since then candidates have been listed by talkSPORT BET with the latest odds on who could potentially takeover at Old Trafford, where most recently Michael Carrick was the favourite before odds were suspended.

In October Sir Jim Ratcliffe gave the former Man United boss his full backing by giving him three years to turn the tides from what has been a tumultuous time for the club.

The Red Devils have recorded their worst ever finishes in the Premier League with the worst coming under Amorim last year with a 15th placed finish.

They currently sit in 5th after a third draw in just five games while looking like top four prospects going into this second half of the season.

Amorim delivered a press conference after the draw to Leeds where he launched a surprise attack on the club’s upper management.

Now they are faced with a huge task of replacing him at a crucial time of the season as the Red Devils are just three points behind Liverpool and are joint on points with Chelsea.

Former Man United player Darren Fletcher was amongst the candidates to be the next manager according to the odds on talkSPORT BET in the initial aftermath.

The Scottish midfielder played over 200 games for Manchester United and steps into an interim role with immediate effect, but could he stay on a permanent basis?

Crystal Palace boss Oliver Glasner was also in the mix and has previously been linked with a Premier League switch before, but a move to Man United could prove more tempting.

The biggest move over the last week however, was Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

The former Man United boss was 20/1 last Monday but was backed into odds-on at one stage, before drifting back out to 5/4 on Friday.

Solskjaer was sacked as United boss back in 2021 after nearly three years with the club.

Despite the poor run of form that ultimately saw the board sack the Norwegian, his win-rate for United ended up at 54.17%, ranked third best in managers post Sir Alex Ferguson.

However, over the weekend Michael Carrick became the favourite in the betting ahead of a potential announcement on Monday as it was widely reported a deadline had been set.
