Lynx’s Olivia Miles ties rookie record to add to growing list of feats

If there were concerns about how Olivia Miles’ game would translate to the WNBA, she has definitely put them to bed. With a warm milk and fleece blanket for extra comfort.

The Minnesota Lynx are on an eight-game winning streak. They beat the Toronto Tempo, 100-93, on Tuesday, with Miles tallying 24 points, six rebounds, and eight assists. She has been nothing but prolific in her rookie year after being drafted by the Lynx with the No. 2 pick.

She is averaging team-highs of 19.5 points and 6.0 steals on top of 4.8 rebounds and 1.3 steals. She is shooting 49.6% from the field, including 38.0% from long distance.

Against the Tempo, she went 9-of-17 from the field, 4-of-5 from three-point range, and 2-of-2 from the free-throw line. It was her third game with at least 20 points on a 50-40-90 shooting split, tying the rookie record for most games with such numbers, according to the Lynx.

The 23-year-old Miles has often credited her teammates for making her transition to the WNBA easy. But really, she should flex herself more for how she has electrified the league with her all-around game, moxie, and fearlessness.

She achieved multiple milestones, including the fastest to tally 400 points, 100 rebounds, and 100 assists (22 games), the most three-pointers by a rookie in a game (eight), and the most points by a rookie in a half (24 points), to name a few.

Even with the much-awaited return of Napheesa Collier, Miles, who was compared to Luka Doncic, will continue to be a focal point of the Lynx’s system.

They will have a rematch with the Tempo on Thursday.
