Lionel Messi names 6 biggest threats to Argentina in FIFA World Cup

Defending FIFA World Cup Champions Argentina are set to enter this year’s tournament as one of the giants. With their successful past and recent dominating performances, fans expect Messi and his squad to have another successful campaign like 2022.

Speaking to YouTube channel Lo del Pollo via Yahoo Sports, Lionel Messi opened up and named six nations that he believes could rival Argentina in the World Cup and pose a threat. “We have to get excited, like Argentinians always do whenever there’s an official competition, whether it’s the Copa America or the World Cup, but we also have to know that there are other favorites ahead of us,” he said.

“Right now, France looks very good again. They have many top-level players. I think Spain, Brazil – although they haven’t been at their best lately – are always contenders and have the players to compete in all official competitions. Then we all say the same things. Germany, England, the big powers… Portugal has a very competitive and good team too. And then there’s always some surprise,” he added.

Speaking highly of his own squad as their captain, Messi expressed his belief in the team. “This Argentina team will always compete and give their best, just like they have since this group came together,” he finished.

While fans expect this year’s edition to be the 38-year-old Messi’s last World Cup tournament, fans also hold similar expectations from the 41-year-old Real Madrid legend and Al-Nassr captain, Cristiano Ronaldo. Both legends of the game have been playing the sport for several years now, and fans expect them to finally hang up their boots after this.
