Liberty’s Satou Sabally, Chris Demarco talk difficulty of keeping Angel Reese off the glass

Satou Sabally and Chris DeMarco had solid remarks to share about Angel Reese following the New York Liberty’s clash with the Atlanta Dream on Thursday night.

Going into the game, New York is rolling with one of the best records in the league. They were on fire with five straight wins, wanting to extend to six.

Sabally and DeMarco were due for a tough assignment against Reese, who is going through her first year with the Dream. She stands out as a double-double machine, shining as one of the top rebounders in the entire league.

In 33 minutes of action, that remained the case for Reese. She finished with a stat line of 25 points, nine rebounds, three assists, two steals, and one block. Despite this, Sabally and DeMarco helped New York persevere as they reflected on the team’s win after the game, per reporter Myles Ehrlich.

“JJ’s battling. Reese is tough on the glass and our game plan was to try to keep the three out and we did that. Our effort — I know we have turnovers — but it’s been incredible. We can live with mistakes if we’re playing as hard as we are,” DeMarco said.

“We’re long, we’re battling down there. Holding a great player like Angel Reese to only nine rebounds… that’s a big point, but every one [of us] was just crashing and relying on each other,” Sabally answered.

Satou Sabally and the Liberty continue to roll after taking down the Dream in the conference showdown.

Five players scored in double-digits for New York in the win. Sabally delivered 19 points as she shot 5-of-9 from downtown. Breanna Stewart came next with 19 points and 11 rebounds, while Marine Johannes provided 17 points.

New York improved to a 9-4 record of the season, taking over the top spot in the Eastern Conference standings. They are above the Dream and the Indiana Fever at the moment.

Rolling with six consecutive wins, the Liberty will look forward to their next matchup. They will be at home when they host the Washington Mystics on June 14 at 3 p.m. ET. ,”:
