Legendary WWE commentator ‘still fighting’ 20+ days into hospitalization

Recently, the iconic former WWE commentator Jim Ross revealed that he had been hospitalized weeks ago, but he was still supporting his Oklahoma Sooners.

He took to social media on Saturday, June 20, 2026, to reveal he was in the midst of “Day 22 in the hospital.” Ross was in high spirits, though, as he was watching Oklahoma’s baseball team in the College World Series of Omaha. If nothing else, he is a fighter and will continue to be one.

“Day 22 in the hospital in Norman,” he wrote. “Watching [College World Series of Omaha] with my [Oklahoma Sooners baseball]. Thanks for everyone’s kind thoughts and prayers. Don’t count me out just yet. I’m still fighting! [praying hands and cowboy hat face emojis]”

Is former WWE commentator Jim Ross okay?

Ross didn’t go into detail about why he was in the hospital. Hopefully, he is making a good recovery from whatever ailment he is dealing with.

Currently, he is a commentator for AEW. He first signed with the company in 2019. He had a long hiatus from 2024 into 2025, returning at All In in July, due to an illness. He is no stranger to missing time due to health problems.

Before his stint in AEW, he was best known for his time in WWE. He spent years with them as a color commentator, endearing himself to the fans.

His first run would end in 2013. Ross would then commentate on the independent circuit and in New Japan Pro-Wrestling (NJPW). Eventually, he would find his way back to WWE.

He would later leave WWE again in 2019, allowing his contract to expire. Just a couple of years earlier, he had made a surprise return during Roman Reigns and The Undertaker’s WrestleMania 33 match, signing a two-year contract afterward.

Ross is a WWE Hall of Famer. He was inducted in 2007 by “Stone Cold” Steve Austin. That year’s class also included Jerry “The King” Lawler, “The American Dream” Dusty Rhodes, and The Sheik.
