Legendary Ohio State football WR retires from NFL after 7 seasons

The Dallas Cowboys will be without a wide receiver this upcoming season, as Ohio State football legend Parris Campbell has decided to retire, according to Ari Meirov of The33rdTeamFB.

“Cowboys WR Parris Campbell is retiring from the NFL. The former Ohio State standout was a 2nd-round pick by the Colts in 2019 and also spent time with the Giants and Eagles, winning a Super Bowl in Philadelphia,” Meirov wrote on X, formerly Twitter.

Campbell was a First-Team All-Big Ten player and a national champion with Ohio State before being drafted by the Colts, where he spent four seasons. His best season was his last year with the Colts, which led him to a contract with the New York Giants in 2023.

He only stayed with the Giants for one season and then signed with the Eagles in 2024, winning the Super Bowl with them. He signed with the Cowboys in 2025 and was signed to a futures/reserves deal in January. Campbell is still fairly young, as he’s just 28 years old.

As for the Cowboys, they have two available roster spots, and it will be interesting to see if they add another receiver to fill their depth.

Wide receiver is actually one position where the Cowboys have some good pieces, which include CeeDee Lamb and George Pickens. They were a good one-two punch last season, and Dak Prescott was at the top of his game when he was getting them the ball.

With another year under their belt, the Cowboys’ offense should take another step, and they could be one of the top teams in the NFC.
