LeBron James’ final stat line in Lakers-Thunder series defies Father Time

Did we just witness LeBron James’ final game in the NBA?

If yes, he certainly went down swinging.

The Los Angeles Lakers suffered a sweep at the hands of the Oklahoma City Thunder after falling short, 115-110, in Game 4 of their second-round series in the playoffs at Crypto.com Arena on Monday.

The Lakers had multiple chances to extend the best-of-seven series, but James and Austin Reaves missed crucial shots in the closing minutes, allowing the Thunder to escape and advance to the conference finals.

The 41-year-old James had 24 points, 12 rebounds, and three assists, resting for only eight minutes.

As pointed out by StatMuse, he led the Lakers in points and assists against the defending champions, averaging 23.2 points, 6.7 rebounds, and 7.3 assists in four games.

Following their exit, the questions, as usual, will revolve around James’ possible retirement. He has largely evaded the matter during the course of the season, and it will be interesting to see if he will give a more definitive answer now that the Lakers’ campaign is over.

In his 23rd season, the four-time champion averaged 20.9 points, 6.1 rebounds, 7.2 assists, and 1.2 steals. He played 60 games—his third-most in the last six seasons.

He carried Los Angeles to the second round after beating the Houston Rockets in six games in the opening stage. While not many gave them a chance against the Thunder, especially with Luka Doncic out with a hamstring injury, James fought to the very end.

While it would be sad to see his career end in a sweep, his legacy has already been cemented. We were all witnesses.
