LaVar Ball guarantees Timberwolves championship if they sign Ball Brothers after LaMelo trade

The Minnesota Timberwolves stunned the entire NBA world when they pulled off a blockbuster trade for LaMelo Ball, sending Naz Reid, an unprotected 2033 first-round pick, three first-round pick swaps (2028, 2029, 2030), and three second-round picks to the Charlotte Hornets in exchange. The Timberwolves are pairing Ball with Anthony Edwards, trying to remodel the team from a big, bruising outfit to a freewheeling team after three consecutive years of playoff heartbreak.

With Ball now on the Timberwolves roster, a new supporter has come aboard the fanbase in the form of the 24-year-old guard’s father, LaVar. LaVar then urged Minnesota to reunite all three Ball brothers together to guarantee a championship in 2027.

“Let me give you the recipe. You got to get the two other Ball boys. It will be the most-watched team ever in the NBA. Trust me when I tell you. Melo can’t win it by himself, but I’ll tell you, with his brothers, I’ll guarantee y’all a championship. Together you can’t beat em,” LaVar said.

“You can get Lonzo damn near for nothin’. You can get Gelo damn near for nothin’. … Whenever them Ball boys together, can’t lose!”

LaVar has always been the most outspoken fan of his three sons, although he has faded from the limelight over the past few years. He first burst onto the scene in 2016, when he was hyping up Lonzo, his firstborn, as the next all-time great.

Hearing anything other than this suggestion from LaVar would be surprising, but it would be even more stunning if the Timberwolves even paid a sliver of attention to what the Ball family patriarch is saying.

Lonzo’s NBA career might be over after no team picked him up after the Utah Jazz waived him in the aftermath of a salary dump from the Cleveland Cavaliers following a tough 2025-26 campaign. LiAngelo has not been on the NBA radar since 2023, when he was still in the G-League.

It would be incredible for LaVar to see his boys be back together on the court, especially for a team with contending aspirations like the Timberwolves. But sadly for him, this is nothing more than a pipe dream.
