Lakers vs. Rockets 2026 NBA Playoffs Game 6 prediction, odds, pick

The 2026 NBA Playoffs continue with First Round matchups as we bring you a prediction and pick for this upcoming Western Conference Game 6 tilt. The Los Angeles Lakers take on the Houston Rockets as Los Angeles hopes to close the series leading 3-2. Check our NBA Playoffs odds series for the Carolina-Montague prediction and pick.

The Houston Rockets managed to stay alive with a 99-93 win in Los Angeles during Game 5, fueled by huge performances from Jabari Smith Jr. and Tari Eason. Leading the game through much of the first half, the Lakers fell behind before halftime and couldn’t find their footing in the time since. Still, LeBron James is no stranger to closing a playoffs series out and he’ll have no intention on returning to Los Angeles for a Game 7.

Keys to Lakers vs. Rockets Matchup

With their backs against the wall, the Rockets were able to come up with a Game 5 win and extend this series. Still playing without Kevin Durant, Jabari Smith Jr. led the way with 22 points through his inside-out scoring while Tari Eason added 18 of his own from the mid-range. Alperen Sengun was just one assist and two rebounds away from a triple-double as the Rockets saw one of their more complete team performances despite scoring just 99 points in the final tally.

It comes as no surprise to see the Lakers drop a game with the lead in this series as they’re now afforded two more opportunities to close this game out early. LeBron James has been their sole leader in scoring and facilitating, doing everything he can in the absence of Luka Doncic and hoping he can return during the semifinals. Watch for LeBron to once again take charge with his drives to the lane and rebounding on second chances as he’ll be highly motivated to end this series.

Without Durant, the Rockets will continue having to base their game plan around defense and swinging the ball around for the best possible look. Reed Sheppard and Amen Thompson were both integral in their success on defense throughout Game 5, so expect them to once again become active in the passing lanes as they look to disrupt the Lakers’ offense and turn it into transition buckets on their end.

Lakers vs. Rockets Game 6 Prediction and Pick

While the Houston Rockets have been putting up a solid fight throughout this series, it seemed as though the Lakers were clearly taking a game off while gauging where the Rockets would look to without Kevin Durant. Now that JJ Reddick and LeBron James can make their proper adjustments, it’s hard to bet against the Lakers in this close-out situation.

The Rockets should come away with a lead through halftime, but I fully expect the Los Angeles Lakers to swing this game in their direction by the third quarter. It seems as though they fully plan on Luka Doncic coming back in their next series, so we’ll side with them to close this final game out.

Final Lakers-Rockets Game 6 Prediction & Pick: Los Angeles Lakers +3.5 (-112); OVER 205.5 (-105)
