Kylian Mbappe slams ‘racist’ politician as French Football Federation take legal action after sickening tirade

Kylian Mbappe has slammed a Paraguayan senator as ‘despicable’ and unworthy of her role after she made sickening jibes about his origin.

Celeste Amarilla, of Paraguay’s Liberal Radical Party, attacked Mbappe with ‘brazen racism’ following her country’s 1-0 defeat to France.

The 61-year-old launched a verbal tirade towards the French captain after Les Blues eliminated La Albirroja in the World Cup round-of-16.

Mbappe’s penalty proved to be the difference between the two sides in a hugely tempestuous encounter that threatened to turn ugly.

Paraguay’s dark arts were such that Mbappe deliberately snubbed a post-match handshake with goalkeeper Orlando Gill.

That incident drew a vile response from Paraguayan senator Amarilla, who launched several racist remarks towards the Real Madrid star.

Among the abhorrent remarks, Amarilla made comparisons with Mbappe and chimpanzees while also encouraging Gill to give Mbappe the middle finger after their tense exchange.

Amarilla then launched further insults in a separate post, in which she referenced the African heritage of several France players in the same discriminatory manner Argentina’s players were punished for chanting about following the 2024 Copa America final.

Mbappe refused to let the vicious diatribe go unchecked as he responded with a statement of his own, condemning Amarilla.

The 27-year-old wrote on social media: “Ms Celeste Amarilla, you are a despicable woman, unworthy of your position.

“You do not represent Paraguay, a country that has shown such passion and honour throughout the tournament.

“Because of your thoughtlessness and your blatant racism, the whole world has already forgotten the historic journey and effort your players made during this World Cup.

I tried to shake his hand, but since he didn’t pay me any attention, I lost my temper,

“It is now overshadowed by an incompetent woman who is presenting the worst possible image of her country.

“I will never allow people like her the freedom to spread their hatred and racism across the world.”

France Football supports Mbappe

The French Football Federation (FFF) have since escalated the row in support of their captain by announcing plans to file criminal charges.

“These remarks are criminal and reprehensible. They must be prosecuted here as elsewhere. The FFF is reporting the matter to the public prosecutor’s office with a view to legal proceedings,” it said.

“These remarks bring shame upon those who make them and those who disseminate them. The players of the French national team represent France; it is our country that is being insulted.”

France will next face Morocco in the quarter-finals of the World Cup on Thursday at 9pm, live on talkSPORT.

Mbappe, who is already France’s all-time top scorer, is joint top of the World Cup Golden Boot standings with Lionel Messi and Erling Haaland, having scored seven goals.
