Knicks rumors: 2 intriguing New York draft targets emerge amid NBA Finals
After a stunning performance in Game 1, the New York Knicks will look to take a 2-0 lead in the NBA Finals against the San Antonio Spurs when they battle in Game 2 at Frost Bank Center on Friday.
The Knicks are deeply focused on beating the Spurs in the best-of-seven series, as they try to capture the title for the first time since 1973.
But of course, that does not mean New York is not seriously reviewing for next month’s NBA Draft, where the team will be picking at No. 24 in the first round. The Knicks will also select at No. 31 and No. 55 in the second round.
According to ClutchPoints’ Brett Siegel, the Knicks are looking at two guard prospects at No. 24.
“We’ve heard Isaiah Evans from Duke is a potential target for them, along with Meleek Thomas, a freshman from Arkansas who played alongside Darius Acuff Jr.,” said Siegel on “Clutch Scoops.”
“It makes sense. That kind of fit, where he’s a combo guard, he can play on or off the ball, he’s a good shooter next to Darius Acuff Jr., and Acuff is kind of similar to Jalen Brunson in terms of size and their ability to get downhill towards the rim.”

Evans averaged 15.0 points and 3.2 rebounds in his second year with the Blue Devils, while Thomas logged 15.6 points and 3.8 rebounds in his one-and-done stint with the Razorbacks.
Siegel had Evans at No. 26 and Thomas at No. 27 in his latest mock draft. He put Arizona’s Koa Peat at No. 24 for the Knicks.
New York is already loaded in the backcourt, with Brunson, Josh Hart, Miles McBride, Jordan Clarkson, Jose Alvarado, Landry Shamet, and Tyler Kolek.
