Knicks’ Mike Brown ‘f***ing claps’ for Game 4’s unsung hero

The New York Knicks came back from down 29 points to win Game 4 of the NBA Finals. OG Anunoby is the hero, knocking in the final bucket to secure the one-point win. But Knicks coach Mike Brown wants everyone to acknowledge Jose Alvarado, the unsung hero of the greatest comeback in NBA Finals history.

“‘The last person I’mma talk about is Jose Alvarado.’ Some applause broke out in the room. ‘I know some of you guys can’t, because you’re in the media. But I’mma f—-n clap for Jose. ” Sorry, Mom, ” Brown said, per ClutchPoints’ Kris Pursiainen.

“Just to mix it up. Jose’s been good in pick and roll, Jose’s been good touching the paint,” Brown said, per Pursiainen. “If Jalen wanted to get off the ball for a few possessions, Jose can handle it. He can touch the paint and make the game easier for others. If Jalen was on the ball, the ball got sprayed and it found Jose? Jose can touch the paint with his speed. That’s all I was trying to do. See if we can touch the paint a little bit more.”

Alvarado played 16 minutes in Game 4, the most he has played in any game these playoffs. He scored eight points, including two massive three-pointers, which helped kick off the incredible comeback.

The Knicks picked up Alvarado, a Brooklyn native, at the trade deadline from the New Orleans Pelicans. He has been a fantastic option off the bench, spelling Jalen Brunson for key spots in many games during the playoffs. The former Christ the King star was the energy piece the team needed on Wednesday night.

The Knicks head back to San Antonio for Game 5 of the NBA Finals. They can secure the title with a win on Saturday night for the first time since 1973. If Game 6 is necessary, Madison Square Garden will be electric on Tuesday.
