Knicks’ Jalen Brunson wins NBA Finals MVP after 45-point Game 5 masterpiece

After over 53 years, the New York Knicks are NBA champions after defeating the San Antonio Spurs in Game 5, 94-90. It was another game where the Knicks found themselves down double digits to start the game, but they once again came back and won.

It was Jalen Brunson who reeled the team back into it in the first half, going into halftime with 16 points. It took even more from Brunson in the second half, and he finished the game with 45 points. By no surprise, Brunson walked away with the Finals MVP award after all that he did throughout the series.

Brunson had 30+ point performances in the last three games, and he’s led the Knicks however he can, not only in this series, but throughout the entire series. In the Finals, he averaged 32.6 points, 4.6 assists, 4.2 rebounds and 2.0 steals.

It was a physical series for Brunson, and the Spurs made it hard for him through every game, but he always found a way to get a bucket.

Brunson and the Knicks have been on a journey for the past few years, as they were close to making the NBA Finals last season, but ultimately lost to the Indiana Pacers. This season, they came out with a mission in mind, and they got the job done at the highest level.

In this NBA Finals performance, the Knicks came back in every game they won, and it was Brunson who closed every game out with his tough buckets. Now, he’s being rewarded for his play, and it’s well deserved.
