Knicks’ Jalen Brunson remains committed to 0-0 mindset despite NBA Finals lead
Jalen Brunson and the New York Knicks don’t intend to take their foot off the gas after going up 2-0 in the 2026 NBA Finals against the San Antonio Spurs on Friday night.
Going into the game, New York held a 1-0 series lead after getting past the Spurs 105-95 in Game 1. This presented an opportunity for them to go up 2-0 in the series, getting them closer to the franchise’s first title since 1973.
Brunson made sure that New York pulled off the upset road win over San Antonio once again. Even though his shot wasn’t falling as he would like, he continued to make big plays in the clutch that gifted New York the final lead of the night.
Having a 2-0 series lead would have many teams be confident about their chances of winning the series. However, Brunson remained humble about it after the game as he showcased a mindset that is not ready to celebrate quite yet.
“I think our mindset was 0-0, not being up 1-0. Even with what the series is now, next game, the mindset has to be 0-0 again. It’s how it has to be. You can’t be comfortable, you can’t be satisfied with anything,” Brunson said.
How Jalen Brunson, Knicks played against Spurs
It is clear that Jalen Brunson and the Knicks are serious as they are two wins away from winning it all.
New York fought back from an early deficit to take control of the game in the second half. Despite San Antonio’s efforts to take the lead in the final seconds, the Knicks made the necessary stops to escape with the road victory.
Five players scored in double-digits for New York in the win, including Brunson. He delivered a big display with 20 points, six assists, five rebounds, and five steals. Karl-Anthony Towns led the team with 21 points and 13 rebounds, Mikal Bridges had 20 points and six assists, while OG Anunoby put up 17 points and four rebounds. Meanwhile, Landry Shamet provided 13 points off the bench.
The Knicks seek a 3-0 series lead when they return home to host Game 3 against the Spurs. The contest commences on June 8 at 8:30 p.m. ET.
