Knicks fans boo Donald Trump during Game 3 National Anthem
Donald Trump has arrived in Madison Square Garden. When the New York Knicks reached the NBA Finals in this year’s playoffs, the current president of the United States announced his intentions to attend one of the games in Madison Square Garden. In Game 3 of the Finals against the San Antonio Spurs, Trump showed up and was shown on the Jumbotron. As he was being displayed during the National Anthem, a chorus of boos erupted from the crowd.

Trump, who owns several properties in New York, has publicly supported the Knicks in this year’s Finals. The president of the United States has been welcomed well by Commissioner Adam Silver.
“I’ve been with the league for a long time. I ran NBA Entertainment years ago, and [Donald Trump] did a ‘I Love Knicks’ game spot with us,” Silver said before Game 3. “He was a fixture at Madison Square Garden. He was here all the time. He’s a genuine Knicks fan… We should be using sports to create more of a sense of community with people, not less.”
The Knicks hold a 2-0 series lead over the Spurs in the NBA Finals. After going down 1-2 against the Atlanta Hawks in the first round, New York rattled off 13 straight wins, including two sweeps. Meanwhile, the Spurs are returning to the playoffs after eliminating the defending champions, the Oklahoma City Thunder, in the Western Conference Finals. All eyes are on the matchup between Knicks guard Jalen Brunson and Spurs star Victor Wembanyama.
