Kirk Cousins offers lofty Fernando Mendoza praise after Raiders signing

Kirk Cousins is now a Las Vegas Raider. The aging QB still has some elite play left in him, but his future as a starter may be running out of time. The Raiders are certainly going to select Fernando Mendoza No. 1 overall in a few weeks in the upcoming NFL Draft. Eventually, the Raiders will be his team.

On Wednesday, the newest QB praised Mendoza when asked about him by the media.

Kirk Cousins on Fernando Mendoza: “I’ve watched him from a distance. … He seems like a high-quality person.”

Cousins knows that if they were to be teammates, they would get along great. There is not much of a better mentor for Mendoza than having Cousins by your side.

“Cousins on potentially being teammates w/ Fernando Mendoza: ‘If we’re fortunate enough to get him here, then it’ll be a privilege to work together.’ He added that Mendoza is ‘much ahead’ of him when he came out of college.”

Mendoza seems like a very genuine person. He’s grown into a great quarterback, and every interview you listen to or watch him participate in, you immediately get an image of a gentleman who would do anything to help others over himself. He’s a standup athlete who deserves all the good that comes his way.

Cousins, new head coach Klint Kubiak, and Tom Brady are going to do their best to help shape Mendoza into the QB he was always meant to be. Cousins may start early in the season, and if he is playing well, it might last the entire year. However, Cousins probably knows that his time as a starter may end after 2026, and then he will give the keys to Mendoza if he doesn’t do so beforehand.
