Kevin Durant throws shade at Suns’ Dillon Brooks after trash talk battle

PHOENIX– The battle between Kevin Durant and Dillon Brooks grew even more on Tuesday. During the Houston Rockets’ 119-105 takedown over the Phoenix Suns, there was a moment that caught everyone’s attention.

During the second quarter, Durant crossed up Brooks in a highlight-worthy moment. A few plays before, the latter was going right at Durant and engaging in trash talk.

While some might’ve thought that played a part in the latter’s dominant scoring stretch, he believes it had nothing to do with Brooks’s antics.

“Not at all. I’m not giving him that. He doesn’t get that type of credit with me. Maybe with other guys that may turn up when he talks to them, but he’s not that important. Especially to get me going. I wake up going, getting ready to play,” Durant explained via AZCentral’s Duane Rankin postgame.

“I respect it and what he brings to the team. I think that gets him going more than me. I was just happy to get the ball right after and make a move, but it wasn’t to spite Dillon to show him up. He’s not that much of a concern to me.”

After a brutal first quarter, the Rockets pulled quite the comeback. They outscored Phoenix in the second half, 65-48. The Slim Reaper didn’t need to play much, as he logged 17 minutes.

Not to mention, this was the first time Durant played against the Suns in Phoenix. The first opportunity came on November 24, but he was handling a personal matter.

The game itself had a playoff vibe to it, with the amount of trash talking and physicality. Still, it seems that he got the last laugh over Brooks for the final matchup of the regular season.
