Kansas transfer spurns Arizona as Missouri, Miami pull ahead
Kansas basketball is addressing its early March Madness exit through a roster rebuild. That includes watching more than Darryn Peterson head for the NBA Draft. Bryson Tiller was a coveted target for Arizona, but Missouri and Miami are gaining steam.
Joe Tipton of On3/Rivals revealed the College Basketball Transfer Portal intel there Wednesday. Including how Arizona started to lose its grip on landing the former Jayhawks star.
“Arizona was set to host Kansas transfer forward Bryson Tiller on campus on Wednesday, however, the visit is now off,” Tipton said.
Now the Hurricanes and Tigers appear ready to capitalize, per the CBB insider Tipton.
“He’s already been to Miami and Missouri and his decision will likely come down to those schools, barring another jumps into the mix,” Tipton wrote. “Right now, it’s too hard to tell which way he is leaning.”
Miami still rises as a huge one to watch. Hurricanes head coach Jai Lucas and his staff pulled off two major portal coups already. Georgia center Somto Cyril landed with Miami Sunday, which hands “The U” the Southeastern Conference’s top shot blocker. Miami then swooped up Acaden Lewis of Villanova, further adding recent NCAA Tournament experience in that room.
Tiller leaves Lawrence averaging 7.9 points per game with 6.1 rebounds. He dropped 21 points against an AJ Dybantsa-led BYU team during the Jayhawks’ 90-82 win on Jan. 31.
But Tiller produced a quiet tournament with KU: Scoring a combined six points (zero versus St. John’s) and grabbed 15 total rebounds. Kansas exited during the round of 32 off a Dylan Darling buzzer beater from the Red Storm.
