Juraj Slafkovsky’s unreal Game 1 effort sinks Hurricanes in East Final
The Montreal Canadiens allowed the first goal of the 2026 Eastern Conference Finals on Thursday night. However, they went on to shut down the Carolina Hurricanes following that goal. The Canadiens won Game 1 of the East Final thanks in part to Cole Caufield and Juraj Slafkovsky.
Caufield scored a goal and added an assist on Thursday night. Slafkovsky, meanwhile, scored two goals on the night. One of these goals was a sensational individual effort that sucked a lot of momentum away from the Hurricanes.

As mentioned, Carolina scored the first goal of this contest. Seth Jarvis found the back of the net just 33 seconds into Game 1. However, Caufield scored less than 30 seconds later to make it 1-1.
This is a developing story. Updates to follow.
