Josh Jacobs coughs up fumble after insane Nahshon Wright strip

The Green Bay Packers could take the lead in the NFC North with a win over the Chicago Bears on Saturday. Already missing Micah Parsons, the Packers lost Jordan Love to a concussion early in the Week 16 matchup with Chicago.

Josh Jacobs suited up for Green Bay on Saturday. The veteran running back is playing through a knee injury against the Bears. The ailment has forced the Packers to limit Jacobs’ touches. But he got the ball at the goal line midway through the third quarter.

Green Bay tried to cap a nine-play, 62-yard drive with a rushing touchdown from the Bears four-yard line. But Nahshon Wright ripped the ball out of Jacobs’ hands and Tremaine Edmunds recovered, stealing a scoring opportunity from the Packers.

Josh Jacobs plays through injury in Packers-Bears clash

Despite Jacobs’ fumble, Green Bay’s defense forced the Bears to punt from deep in their own territory. The Packers then came right back with a six-play, 64-yard scoring drive. Backup quarterback Malik Willis found Romeo Doubs with a perfectly placed pass. The 33-yard touchdown gave Green Bay a 13-3 lead.

Even without Parsons, the Packers defense has been dominant. Caleb Williams has completed less than 50 percent of his passes midway through the fourth quarter. Green Bay has easily controlled time of possession in the divisional clash. And the Bears have shot themselves in the foot with 10 penalties for 105 yards.

Jacobs was questionable for Saturday’s matchup. But the three-time Pro Bowler gutted through a must-win game for the Packers. Green Bay won the first matchup between the NFC North rivals. And the Packers would take the division lead at 10-4 with the head-to-head tiebreaker
