John Cena says Brock Lesnar and Roman Reigns were born to be WWE wrestlers
Just weeks after WWE WrestleMania 42 in Las Vegas, Nevada, John Cena again made his return at WWE Backlash in Tampa, Florida. Making a historic announcement, Cena shared the arrival of the John Cena Classic tournament, where Superstars from both the NXT and the main roster will compete for a special championship.
However, interestingly, according to Cena, fans will have the voting power to decide the champion. So even if a wrestler loses, fans can reward their hustle by selecting them to be the champion.
While this decision received a major backlash and criticism from fans, Cena was quick to defend it online. Recently, speaking to Adam’s Apple on the streets, Cena was asked about his approach toward looking at talent. Cena mentioned that he tries to shut off his “radar” and look at talent regardless of their build. However, while “The Leader of Cenation” mentioned that wrestlers like CM Punk, Seth Rollins, or even Becky Lynch might not be on people’s radar.
“I try to shut my radar off because I wasn’t on anybody’s radar, and I managed to have a wonderful career,” Cena said. “Guys like CM Punk and even like Seth Rollins might not necessarily be on somebody’s radar. Becky Lynch is a story about someone who was not necessarily on somebody’s radar and made someone.”
However, while he shared his thoughts on the three names, he also heaped praise on Brock Lesnar and Roman Reigns, who he believes were made to be WWE Superstars. “There are sure shots. Brock Lesnar was born to do what we do,” Cena said. “I think Joe Anoa’i, Roman Reigns, is another one who is — I like turning the radar off, and I like seeing what people can do. I like seeing potential when the bright lights are on, and maybe that’s like the nucleus of the John Cena Classic. It’s how I got my start.”
