Jalen Hurts awkwardly sends Saquon Barkley away from huddle in footage that’s divided Eagles fans

Jalen Hurts and Saquon Barkley have gone viral over an awkward interaction during the Philadelphia Eagles’ 29-18 win over the Washington Commanders on Saturday.

Late in the third quarter, Eagles quarterback Hurts was spotted sharing what appeared to be strong words with his offensive line after a drive that had stalled.

In the footage, which was uploaded by a fan and has now garnered over a million views, Barkley is seen storming towards the offensive line as Hurts is talking to his teammates on the Philly sideline.

As the running back begins saying something, Hurts then puts his hands on his running back and gestures for him to go away.

Barkley’s frustration was likely because, at that point in the game, he had only managed 52 yards from 14 carries and the Eagles‘ offense at large was failing to convert on key downs.

Fans online reacted to the video on X, and it’s safe to say many were not happy with the antics of Barkley.

“Great leadership from Hurts there, not sure why Barkley tried to come in looking all angry there,” one fan wrote on X.

“Hurts did the right thing, the team exploded after this,” another said.

“Barkley gotta be a better leader, this looks weak,” a third said.

However, some fans felt the interaction was being overplayed, with tensions inevitably high in such a big game.

“This is a non story bro. Bark was chiming in and Hurts was just like I got this I got this,” one fan wrote.

“Jalen was talking to them first and wanted to finish his point. Stop looking for things,” another said.

Whatever was — or wasn’t — said clearly worked as the Super Bowl contender Eagles returned to the field and dominated.

That includes Barkley, who in his next seven carries picked up 80 yards, which included a 12-yard touchdown in the fourth quarter that put the Eagles up by 11 and secured the win and the NFC East crown.

The 28-year-old, who penned a $41.2 million contract extension earlier this year, finished the game with 132 yards on 21 carries, which put him at 1,000 yards for the second consecutive season.

His and Hurts’ interaction wasn’t the only talking point from the contest, as three players were ejected for a brawl in the fourth quarter.

Washington’s Javon Kinlaw and Quan Martin, along with Philadelphia’s Tyler Steer, were sent out of the game after the trio were flagged for unnecessary roughness.

It came after Barkley’s two-point conversion, which gave the Eagles a 29-10 lead.

“It’s chippy out there. We have a lot of history with this team, especially since I’ve been here,” said Barkley.

“This team don’t like us, this is the truth, and we don’t like them either. But we got to keep it football.”

The Eagles have now clinched a home playoff game as they look to go on another Super Bowl-winning postseason run.
