Jalen Brunson jokes he’ll trade NBA trophy for this expensive watch

Jalen Brunson is down to trade his NBA Championship Trophy for this actor’s expensive watch.

During the Knicks parade on Thursday (June 18), Power actor Michael Rainey Jr. was walking beside Brunson and began recording him holding the Larry O’Brien Trophy. The NBA Finals MVP noticed Rainey Jr. recording and showed a sly smile for the camera that later turned into a shocked expression when he looked down at the actor’s wrist, which had an expensive AP watch on it. Brunson jokingly offered Rainey Jr. a trade: the trophy for the watch, which the actor did not hesitate to accept.

“You can have this s–t,” the actor can be heard saying. “On God, you can have this s–t. I’m taking it off my wrist right now.”

The Knicks celebrated their championship title during the franchise’s first-ever ticker-tape parade last week following their victory over the San Antonio Spurs 94-90 in Game 5 of the NBA Finals. Alongside Brunson, his teammates Josh Hart, Karl-Anthony Towns, OG Anunoby, Mikal Bridges, Jose Alvardo, and more were seen on floats as they celebrated with New York fans. The parade was star-studded with appearances from Timothée Chalamet, Spike Lee, Tracy Morgan, Ben Stiller, Fat Joe, Mariska Hargitay, and more. Knicks alum such as Walt Fraiser, Pat Ewing, and Charles Oakley also made an appearance to celebrate with the championship team and the over one million fans who came out.

The team, coach Mike Brown, Knicks owner James Dolan, were given keys to New York City after the parade concluded.

“There’s a lot of people that have a lot of negative stuff to say,” Brunson said during the Knicks celebration at New York’s City Hall. “There’s a lot of people who have a lot of opinions. But when you prove them wrong, you really don’t have to say s— to them. They don’t deserve it.”

“D–n, New York, we really did it,” Brunson said. “Somehow, someway I knew we were going to find a way to get this done.”
