Ja’Kobi Lane and 5 biggest steals from 2026 NFL Draft

The 2026 NFL Draft delivered many twists and turns for three days. Each NFL team earned their report card already. However, the ’26 draft weekend featured surprises too; like Ja’Kobi Lane and Denzel Boston dropping and Garrett Nussmeier falling to the seventh.

One of those three becomes a steal for their respective teams along with five others. But it’s not the former LSU quarterback.

Boston is ruled out too since he still landed high in the second round. Here now are six of the biggest draft weekend steals, including two from the same team.

Baltimore Ravens — Round 3, Pick 80: WR Ja’Kobi Lane, USC

Lane entered the draft process presenting late day one and early day two draft talent. He manages to land before the draft’s Friday festivities wrapped up.

But he’s heading to a place where he can ascend. Especially with who’s throwing him the football soon in Lamar Jackson.

Furthermore, the Trojans star addresses a massive red zone need for a Ravens team that fell short of winning the AFC North. Baltimore lacked a contested catch monster and addressed it with Lane. He’s not the only impressive Ravens pick.

Los Angeles Rams — Round 3, Pick 93: OT Keagen Trost, Missouri

Ty Simpson draws the most attention in LA after landing No. 13 overall. But general manager Les Snead helps pull an even smarter move here by grabbing this unknown Southeastern Conference star.

Trost allowed a 1.5% pressure rate last season, making him the SEC’s top pass protector. His versatility reportedly won over the Rams too, as Trost can play all five spots.

Right tackle Rob Havenstein’s retirement persuades Trost’s pick. But the Rams gain a potential blindside protector here too thanks to Trost’s quarterback protecting prowess.

Baltimore Ravens — Round 4, Pick 115: WR Elijah Sarratt, Indiana

Baltimore adds the “Waffle House” because he’s always open.

Sarratt is another large target alongside Lane. Plus brings his own strong catch radius as he emerged as a favorite target of Fernando Mendoza.

The national champion wideout and Lane are here to take pressure off burner Zay Flowers. Look for both to improve the red zone offense immensely.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers — Round 4, Pick 116: CB Keionte Scott, Miami

Hurricanes star Rueben Bain falling to No. 15 is buzzworthy enough for Tampa. Bain no doubt will ignite a pass rush needing it.

The fellow Miami star Scott rises as a big steal, though.

Scott blew away his Miami Pro Day workouts to trek up the draft board. He presents positional versatility at lining up between nickelback and the boundary CB. Head coach Todd Bowles gains a blitz option here too. Scott’s maturity (25 years of age) adds further intrigue to the Bucs’ defensive backend.

Detroit Lions — Round 5, Pick 157: CB Keith Abney II, Arizona State

Cornerback play trended downward in the Motor City last season, with the Lions ranking 20th against the pass.

Detroit didn’t address CB help until the fifth round, but gain a potential future starter in Abney. He brings 20 pass breakups in tow while facing pass-heavy attacks in the Big 12. Abney didn’t surrender a touchdown his side either on 72 targets.

The Sun Devils star adds inside/outside versatility too like Scott. But Detroit fans and head coach Dan Campbell will love his physicality.

Las Vegas Raiders — Round 5, Pick 175: CB Hezekiah Masses, Cal

The Silver and Black went defensive back heavy after taking Mendoza. Treydan Stukes and Jermod McCoy can impact (especially if the latter is fully recovered from his torn ACL) as freakishly athletic options.

But Masses enters this room as the potential sleeper pick. He broke up 12 passes in making the jump from Florida International. Masses grabbed a career-high five picks too.

He joined past Cal star Nohl Williams in ascending at Berkeley after starting out in the mid-major realm. LV will love his ball skills and ability to excel in press man. Oh, the Raiders did very well with a Cal CB before years ago in Nnamdi Asomugha.
