Jack Eichel’s intriguing review of Golden Knights’ brutal Mammoth loss in Game 3
The Vegas Golden Knights won the Pacific Division and headed into their first-round matchup with the Utah Mammoth as the clear favorites. Jack Eichel and his teammates took care of business in Game 1, but lost Game 2. In Salt Lake City for Game 3, the Mammoth were by far the better team, earning a 2-1 series lead.
Lawson Crouse stole the show for the hosting Mammoth, scoring twice in Utah’s first-ever home playoff game. Jack Eichel did score a goal, but his marker only made it 4-1. Vegas would go on to score only once more as they fell away from home 4-2.
After the game, Eichel spoke with the media. Considering the way the game went, many would’ve expected a less-than-stellar review from the Vegas alternate captain. However, Eichel went the other direction, saying he felt his team put in a good effort.
“I thought we played a good game. It was a bit of a weird one. We didn’t give up a ton. There were a lot of positives from what we did and now we look forward to the next one and find a way to win that one,” the Golden Knights star said, via SinBin.vegas.
Vegas is not too far removed from a Stanley Cup triumph. They won their first Stanley Cup in 2023, just six years into their existence. However, the Golden Knights have not made the Final since. In fact, they haven’t gone past the second round since that victory.
Eichel liked what he saw from his team on Friday night. But his team did not have enough to win the game. They will need to figure things out before the puck drops on Game 4 on Monday in Salt Lake City.
