Jaccob Slavin’s ‘locked in’ Frederik Andersen message after Flyers sweep
The Carolina Hurricanes are heading back to the Eastern Conference Finals. This is their second East Final in as many years, following last year’s defeat at the hands of the Florida Panthers. This is also their fourth East Final appearance since 2019. A major part of their more recent success has been goaltender Frederik Andersen.
Andersen has been a very reliable goaltender over the last few years when healthy. However, he turns his game up in the Stanley Cup Playoffs. This year is certainly no exception. The Hurricanes goaltender has played to a video-game-esque .950 save percentage across Carolina’s eight playoff games. This is one reason why Carolina has won all eight of those games.
“He’s been locked in,” Hurricanes defenseman Jaccob Slavin said of his veteran goaltender, via NHL.com. “He’s been unbelievable for us, absolutely a brick wall back there, and when we have had breakdowns, he’s been there to shut the door. So, it’s huge for us and we just need him to continue to do that.”
The Hurricanes swept their way through the Ottawa Senators in the first round. In the second round, they took on the Philadelphia Flyers. The opponent was different, but the result was the same. Carolina swept the Flyers thanks to a Jackson Blake overtime goal in Game 4.
Carolina will be off for a while as they await the result of the Buffalo Sabres-Montreal Canadiens series. They will certainly keep a close eye on this series. But no matter the result, the Hurricanes will be a tough out in the 2026 Eastern Conference Finals.
